"The Perfect Crew"

A few Skippers were enjoying a drink or two after a good meal and the conservation turned to the woeful inadequacies of RYA training courses for crew.

It was felt that additional items should be included....

The perfect crew:

  1. Knows the exact strength of a G & T for the skipper.
  2. Keeps their loose socks under control.
  3. When coming in to a mooring does not stand on the foredeck, so obscuring the skippers view, but sits.
  4. Makes the tea in the morning.
  5. Gets out of their pit at the time the skipper wants to get underway.
  6. Does not sit on the saloon settee so as to block the passage way to the heads.
  7. Offers to do the washing-up.
  8. Does the washing-up without emptying the water tank.
  9. Tells the skipper of any food preferences before the ship is victualled (and leaves port).
  10. Does not bring a hard bag on board.
  11. Thanks the skipper afterwards, even if it has been a horrific weekend; it will always be appreciated and there is a greater chance you will be invited again.

Of course, this has no refelection on those who have crewed for me over the years....
