"The Perfect Crew"
A few Skippers were enjoying a drink or two after a good meal and the conservation turned to the woeful inadequacies of RYA training courses for crew.
It was felt that additional items should be included....
The perfect crew:
- Knows the exact strength of a G & T for the skipper.
- Keeps their loose socks under control.
- When coming in to a mooring does not stand on the foredeck, so obscuring the skippers view, but sits.
- Makes the tea in the morning.
- Gets out of their pit at the time the skipper wants to get underway.
- Does not sit on the saloon settee so as to block the passage way to the heads.
- Offers to do the washing-up.
- Does the washing-up without emptying the water tank.
- Tells the skipper of any food preferences before the ship is victualled (and leaves port).
- Does not bring a hard bag on board.
- Thanks the skipper afterwards, even if it has been a horrific weekend; it will always be appreciated and there is a greater chance you will be invited again.
Of course, this has no refelection on those who have crewed for me over the years....
